Basketball has given me so much. The game facilitated much of my character development, including work ethic, dedication, resiliency and consistency. It allowed me an opportunity to transform from a shy 9th grade student athlete into a confident collegiate hooper. I gained skills and became competent at something. And in turn, this character development, skill development and competence, gave me confidence and self esteem.
I lacked guidance and mentorship within the space of basketball. Most of my skill development resulted from individual trial and error. I spent countless hours in the gym figuring out what worked. For example, I would shoot 200 mid range jumpers with my palm on the ball, and 200 using my fingertips. My experiment revealed that using my fingertips provided greater accuracy.
After completing a successful high school, collegiate and professional basketball career, my mission has become to offer wisdom and guidance from everything that I have learned via researching, playing, and coaching. My goal is to provide hoopers with the knowledge on how to maximize their scoring ability through optimal fundamental character skill development. I guarantee that this book will provide you with the information necessary to help you become a better hooper and person.
